Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Pizza, being a very subjective thing, can be hard to judge; and more importantly, it's very hard to predict how you'll like it based on others' recommendations. Sorry to be the voice of dissent, but the pizza I had had here was absolute rubbish. Yes, the sauce was good, but for whatever reason it was just a giant slab of grease. I'm still getting used to Iowa cuisine (the do after all have this wretched creation called "taco pizza" in this state), so maybe this is a regional preference.

A+. Must stop in Sioux City. Great pizza, better than decent beer selection. Great classic place in the Midwest.

Good but not the best pizza, maybe the best in Sioux City. The pepperoni isn't very good, the sausage is great! I wasn't a big fan of the sauce. The crust was good.

I challenge you to find better pizza... anywhere.

Great pizza if you're looking for something that tastes a little different. The pizza sauce is a little sweet/spicy which creates for a great pizza! Love it!

Has to be one of the only pizza joints in Sioux City (besides Buffalo Alice) that actually has great sauce. Spicy and garlicky without being overpowering. Almost every other pizza place in town has sauce that is reminiscent of "Ragu" in a can. But not even Ragu, like the worst store brand sauce. If anyone is looking for good pizza in Siouxland, this is the spot.

Simply one of the best places to have pizza in Sioux City. You have to try it. That being said, the restaurant itself is large and it's not hard to find a seat. Ordering the pizza is unusual though, you order at the counter and wait for your number to be called. You get your drinks from the bar. The largest sized pizza is truly gigantic!

Absolutely incredible pizza! Great little vibey place too. I come from Arizona was traveling across the U.S. and found this place using yelp. Now my favorite pizza place in Phoenix is ruined because this pizza was so good!

Pizza was quite good. Not my favorite pizza I've ever had in my entire life, but it was very tasty and a well above average take-out pizza. The sauce is what made the pizza. It has some extra zing in there compared to most pizzas. They're not shy with the toppings or cheese. Typical pizza parlor atmosphere, order as you walk in, wait (not for long I might add), sit in the dining room, eat, leave. A nice touch was the bar near the dining room. They had good, cheap drinks ready to go.

Best pizza in Sioux city. The quality is great and they aren't shy when adding toppings. The cheese breadsticks are really good and they give you a huge pan of them. Definitely worth the money to come here. The taste is great and the atmosphere is too.

Very mediocre pizza. Truly nothing good stands out. The texture of the crust is similar to Casey's gas station pizza, but the flavor is not as good. The pizza sauce is horrible. The breadsticks are dry and gross. I really do not recommend this place.

Very good pizza. Love the local atmosphere, and 70's feel. We also tried the baked Ziti, and it was also very good. Great place to try if you haven't experienced it. Don't expect a fancy place. You order when you walk in. Wait for your number to be called, then enjoy.

Ordered a large pizza for take out. FANTASTIC! The original sauce is great! It's got a little bit of a spicy bite to it. The cheese was fresh and the pepperoni had just a bit of crisp to it. Great meal!

I have been loving El Fredo's ever since I was in high school - class of '82! I moved to Arizona in the the late 80's and every time I come back to visit family it is on my must-list next to seeing my mom & dad. Wow - still cooked masterfully & the sauce is truly unique and delicious - thank you for making such an amazing pizza!!

You can't really top El Fredos! Have been ordering from here for years & have no complaints. One of the best pizza places around. We recently had Old Chicago pizza & the sauce tasted familiar. Hmmm...El Fredos has been around much longer!! Lol
(5)Jared B.
Easily the best pizza in town! They pile on the toppings, and their original sauce is delicious! The jumbo pizza is a great deal, and feeds my family for two meals. Their veggie-lover's pizza is so loaded with toppings, you don't even notice it doesn't have meat. Although my fav is pepperoni or Hawaiian. I've only done take-out, as the atmosphere in the restaurant isn't great, but the pizza is worth the drive and worth every penny.

The 5 stars is solely on the food. A friend and I decided to try something other than pizza hut. We came here for the first time and ordered a large pizza with pepperoni, hamburger with mild sauce. Wait was not long at all and the pizza came out fresher than ever. Cooked to perfection and the sauce is AMAZING. I'm not exaggerating either, it's really good. This place is added to my personal top 3 places for pizza.

As a pizza lover who hails from NYC pizza, I'd have to say this is the best pizza in the Siouxland area. Too bad they no longer deliver.......
(4)Randy H.
As a new SUX resident, I heard about this pizza a LOT before I decided to try it out. I tried the classic sauce, pepperoni pizza. Nothing to say about the atmosphere, since we got it to carry out, but man...this is GOOD pizza.
(5)Spencer D.
I like the slightly sweet pizza sauce and the packed comedy show.

So we are fairly new to the area and were hungry for some good pizza (thus eliminating Pizza Hut, Dominos and the like from the pool of choices). We had already tried Jerry's and Tomacelli's and very much liked them, but were in the mood to try something new and different. I had heard El Fredo's sauce was in fact a little different so was a bit apprehensive about trying it but decided to go for it. Sure glad we did. It was AMAZING!! We got a large The "Works" and a large with Alfredo sauce, chicken and cheese for the kids, who often times are hard to please, and they all loved it. The sauce is different, but I can't put my finger on what is in it that makes it so. I wanna say like a Mexican spice or something. Well whatever...it is fantastically delicious:)! Also, (and IMO as important as the yummy food) the young man taking our order and then helping us when we arrived to pick up our pizza was very sweet (and adorable I hope he doesn't mind me saying:). One last thing...I asked that 1/3 of our "Works" pizza be without olives. Unlike most pizza places do with such a request, this was done perfectly without a skimping of the olives on the other part of the pizza...much to my husbands delight since he loves olives (and I don't obviously). We will definitely be back again!!

This is the best pizza sioux city has to offer. I would put this up there with some of the best I've had anywhere!

I think a Yelp review for this place is pretty useless because if you live in Sioux City you've tried it already and have made up your mind but here it goes: I am a native of Sioux City but have lived in Chicago for five years and traveled to New York a couple times and cannot find a pizza that comes even close to El Fredo's. The secret is in the sauce but they do everything else right too: nicely crisp but not burnt pepperoni, a perfect amount of cheese, a happy-medium amount of crust and yes, a beautiful sheen of light grease on top. My friend is having her wedding rehearsal dinner here, that's how good it is! Can't wait to get back.

Ambiance: Been here twice and have enjoyed both times. The place has two major seating areas one feels like a parlor shop with pearly plastic bench seating while the other is a den-like lair with a tiny stage, each with their own atmospheres. The den, admittedly has a somewhat high ceiling and little cushion to absorb sound which makes it prone to sounding noisy. It's all self-service here so no complaints really about getting drinks or wait times. Food: We started with cheese bread which is essentially a thinner pizza crust topped with cheese and which you dip into a tomato sauce, almost a deconstructed pizza. You can probably skip this if you're getting a pizza although it is a good thing to share. The pizza has a good crust which we ordered well-done to guarantee hefty crunch but it was still moist, slightly chewy, and not too heavy. It was topped with a nice complex sauce with overtones of a sweet red wine like marsala and spices that give it some punch and a hint of heat. The cheese was copious without being obnoxious, thoroughly melted, and perfectly browned. Toppings were plentiful and well-dispersed. Overall this place was pretty tasty. The cheese bread resembled a pizza too much but was a good appetizer nonetheless. The pizza itself was well-composed although the sweet-spicy sauce which sets it apart from every other pizza place might not be for everyone or fit in to the idea of a stereotypical pizza sauce. Definitely worth trying.

One of my favorite pizza places. A nice spicy sauce and it's cooked until the pepperoni starts to crisp. It is hard to judge pizza due to how different it from area to area. That being said, the Sioux City area seems to have quite a few really good pizza places with each of them being a different style.

As a native of Sioux City, I may be a little biased to El Fredo's. However, I have lived in Los Angeles, Chicago, Kansas City, and Indianapolis....this is still my favorite pizza place and trust me when I say that I eat A LOT of pizza. It's all in the sauce for me. I feel like they have made the original sauce a bit more mild over the years so I do wish it was a tad spicer like I remember as a kid. However, it's still my favorite by far.

This isn't your New York style pizza. It's piled high with all the toppings you like, a nice medium-thickness crust, and your choice of sauce (I like the original, it has a kick to it). I highly recommend the "gourmet" pizza as it's loaded with veggies (olives, peppers, onions, broccoli and even artichoke hearts!). They also have a stage area in back encircled with brick walls where bands and comedians perform. With a small cover charge, customers have their meals brought to their tabletops. The bar serves beer and wine, and is the central hub with free refills on soda. For quieter seating, there is booth seating on opposite ends of the restaurant My wife and I especially like the full jazz band they bring in once a month. They have a small arcade area that has some prize games as well, making it fun for the kids and a type of throwback to pizza joints from 20+ years ago. more at siouxcityreviews.wordpre…

My favorite pizza in this town. I've been eating it since...um...the late 1970s. It's the sauce.

Thank you Yelp! We stopped for the night and I wanted pizza. yelp! This pizza was exactly as awesome as described by Yelpers. The pizza is not NY, or Chicago, or even Italian, it is Midwestern style from what I remember growing up. It is awesome, like the Pizza Place from my childhood. Rreasonable priced, cold beer, nice people, clean, and great pizza. We'll be back, and you should stop in if you like Midwestern pizza or at least want to try it.

I was in town with colleagues for 9 days (October 18-27). This place is like a throwback to the 70's with some modern touches (like LCD TV's). The pizza is just as much of a throwback; reminded me of the Pizza's from my childhood. Highly recommended if you're in town.
